We wanted to take a moment to let you know how pleased we are with our new house. You made our decision to build a very easy one. We have already had some friends who are interested in building come over to see the detailed custom work you do. They were quite impressed, as were we. We would not recommend anyone else. You were on the job site every day making sure every thing was going as planned. We were most impressed with your customer service. Your quick response to questions, concerns, and phone calls really put our minds at ease. We truly realized we were dealing with someone of integrity – a real rarity in this day and age.

Now that our home is complete, it is everything we hoped it would be. Through this building process we feel as though we gained a good friend. We would like to take this opportunity to recommend Rick Riley of
Riley Homes as a builder. We began working with Rick in December of 1998 after we had toured a new home he was just completing. We had already decided that we wanted to build a one story home and had looked at many house plans. He helped us choose a lot that was appropriate for the home and suggested an architect who was very helpful in drawing plans that met our needs. He advised us from the beginning of the project to its completion with a great deal of foresight and integrity.

Rick is very capable of keeping the project on schedule. Construction began in May of 1999 and was completed in January of 2000. He has a good relationship with his subcontractors, so we seldom had to wait for them, he did give us several alternatives on many items and accepted our choice if we wanted to use someone else. He always anticipated the decisions that we had to make and gave us advanced notice when we had to choose such things as lighting fixtures and floor coverings. Rick also made suggestions for some changes and additions as the work progressed.

Rick was very open about the projected and actual costs of the project, keeping us informed each month of the expenditures.

We have especially appreciated his willingness to come back and correct several minor problems that have arisen since we moved in. He has also helped us when we needed some repairs after a severe windstorm did some minor damage.

One of the key issues that influenced us to choose Rick as a builder was that he took time to discuss the project at length and that he provided us with references from people for whom he had recently built homes. We have always felt that we were dealing with a man of integrity.

When we purchased our house in 1996 we had been looking in the Edwardsville area for almost nine months. We spent those months looking at literally hundreds of homes and talking to builders in the area. It wasn't until we walked into the house that you had built that we knew we were finally home. We were thrilled with the quality of the workmanship and attention to detail that you provided us.

We can't begin to tell you what a pleasure it is to live in this house, and how often we marvel at the work that you did here. We have several friends who have had homes built, and none of them enjoy the quality of materials or workmanship that we have in our home. We have lived here for almost five years now and can honestly say we are just as happy with the home today as the day we moved in.

We are so pleased with our new home. First of all Rick was able to accommodate our request to add an additional room on our floor plan and still maintain a very attractive elevation. He conferred with us on every aspect of building, and suggested or accommodated a few changes during the building process. He contracted with the most skilled craftsman in every phase , and met our highest expectations, and he brought all costs within his projected budget. He also followed up correcting all minor discrepancies. For example, a driveway concrete slab cracked, and without asking he had it replaced. We also gained a new friend.

We contacted Rick Riley from our home in Ann Arbor, MI, as soon as we knew we were returning to Edwardsville. He helped us choose a floor plan for our new home and the worked with the architect on our behalf to make changes. This all took place while we were still living in Ann Arbor. We faxed and over-nighted our plans back and forth several times before we actually made our move back. Rick was extremely helpful through this process. When we made our decision in 1997 to proceed with building a new home on our Dunlap Lake lot in Edwardsville, selecting a builder was our number one decision. We already owned the lot of our dreams, and we had spent nearly two years designing the basic floor plan of the relatively unique house we wanted to fir our lifestyle.

A friend was at the time finishing construction of his new home with Rick riley as the builder, and recommended Rick to me. After an initial observation of Rick working with his sub-contractors and a formal meeting to discuss his standards, management style and costing procedures, we contracted with Rick without pursuing bids with others. I work that way and following my gut once a gain proved correct.

Within 4 months of breaking ground, we moved into our house that has 5000 square feet under roof, is on the property build line on three sides and is on a steep lot close to the lake. In the interim building phase, Rick allowed us the intimate interaction on a daily basis that we wanted as specific interior and exterior design elements were decided and completed. He also encouraged a close working relationship between us and each of the highly capable sub-contractors.

As a result, one of the many truly enjoyable, learning and rewarding joint experiences of our married life has been the planning and construction of our home with Rick Riley. We started out as complete strangers and ended the project as lasting friends, the reverse of what often is experienced by home builders.
